Welcome! We are delighted that you are interested in the teaching profession. At Truman State University, a teaching degree is offered only at the Master’s level. We do not offer a Bachelor’s in Education degree at Truman. You must earn a BS/BA degree first (Elementary Education and Special Education accept any undergraduate degree offered at TSU).
There are several courses at the undergraduate level that meet state certification requirements for teachers so it is important to meet with our Certification Analyst as soon as possible to ascertain which courses you will need to complete at the undergraduate level.
In addition, there are required field experiences in the undergraduate program, which are described on our webpage and in the Field Experiences Office (VH 2310). Therefore, it would be helpful for you to meet with a contact in the Field Experiences Office too.
Finally, the Department Chair of Education, Dr. Wendy Miner (wsm@truman.edu) is also available to help with any of your questions or concerns.
